We agree!
My husband Bill and I
learned long ago that one of the keys to life is to follow your passion
and call it work. We’ve enjoyed that resolve for many years now, utmost
the twenty we’ve owned Wickwood. It works! It makes each and everyday
exciting. That, coupled with our guests' appreciation of our efforts,
reinvigorates us, and our very incredible staff, everyday. Everyone's
enthusiasm is simply contagious. |

Just 165 square feet! |
Wills and I are a bit like the odd couple, but it too, works! He is a
long-time resident of Saugatuck who knows everything and everyone in our
town, and all of the best golf greens. I grew up in Kalamazoo and often
spent Summers in Saugatuck, then twenty-five years in New York City
where I co-founded The Silver Palate gourmet take-out shop (circa '77)
and authored five cookbooks (one, The Silver Palate Cookbook is in the
Cookbook Hall of Fame. Whew!) That’s about as good as it gets! |

I think that my career in the food world has brought an added dimension
to Wickwood. I simply want to share my love of good food and wine and
make it a part of our guests every day experience. It’s been a joy to me
for over thirty years to hear of cook’s enjoyment of my cookbooks and
how various recipes have become their family traditions. It’s my
continued delight to satisfy my insatiable curiosity and create new
recipes and to share them with our guests at Wickwood. |

And you thought writing a cookbook was easy. |

Food, glorious food. |
I've always cooked with the seasons! When
I was young, our family planted a huge organic vegetable garden every
Memorial Day weekend and my Dad was a “gentleman farmer” raising rare
breeds of farm animals for fun. I’m thrilled that today we live in the
“fruit belt” of Michigan, where we’re surrounded by farms with rich
black soil that make our Farmer’s Markets extraordinary.
We’re regulars at both the markets and farms to supplement what we grow
ourselves. Through everyone’s efforts, we’re able to bring our guests
the very best. |
All of us at Wickwood share a love of good food and wine. And we all
believe that life's way too short not to have fun be a part of every
single day, especially when we live in this very special corner of the
world! It makes life pretty spectacular. We invite you to keep up to
date with us through our newsletter and to join us soon!
"So whatever you want to do, just do it. Making a damn fool of yourself
is absolutely essential to a good life"
