Holiday Shop A Little, Or A Lot

If you came to stay at Wickwood Inn with a gift list in tow, you are in the best place. Our villages are lined with small, owner operated businesses. That means everything inside the stores is uniquely curated and has a story behind it. Nothing big-box or generic happening here. Shop for your art-loving friend at Jeff Blandford’s pottery & glass studio.  Or, discover Marcia Perry’s ARK gallery filled with carved wood wonders large and small. Maybe visit Jim Brandess and schedule the sittings for a portrait for your favorite guy after the holidays. Wander into Good Goods, always filled with artisan treasures.  Find jewelry to photography, glass tables, clothing, purses, fine art, and the full line of STIX furniture. Plus, there’s Upscale Mercantile where you might find carefully selected vintage pieces from cool furniture to planters or pedestals.  And don’t miss Kindel & C0 with its curated home accessories and their new Christmas Shop.

Discover Art Galleries & Holiday Markets

This is the holiday getaway where you finally experience Saugatuck’s special Art Exhibitions and Holiday Pop Up Markets. Grab a pint and immerse yourself in the power and motion of Theresa Gray’s paintings at Waypost Brewing. Enjoy wine while you shop at Holly Days at Everyday People Cafe in December. Be SURE and collect a few jars of Dona’s famous homemade hot honey mustard, Mikey’s hot sauce and curry noodles. Enjoy Jessica’s fanciful wirework and handmade jewelry. Do not miss Sue’s upcycled cashmere accessories.  These ponchos, scarves, wristers, hats, leg warmers and more are the best! Try your luck at HoliDart at Water Street Gallery.  Explore the savings at Button Gallery’s Holiday Sale. Pop in to the SCA and tour the nationally renowned art exhibitions. Take a snow-free stroll through downtown Holland.  Then, visit Holland Kerstmarkt, where local artisan talent shines.

Do You Hear The Choir Sing?

Of course, your holiday getaway is not complete without the cheer of live music and theater. This year, our own Lakeshore Community Chorus features holiday music from around the world. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is live at the Women’s Club. Frederick Meijer Gardens in nearby Grand Rapids hosts the Original Dickens Carolers and a Christmas Cabaret. Of course, there’s live music all around the Saugatuck area: Saugatuck Brewing, Little Lucy’s, Salt Of The Earth just to name a few. See Harry Connick Jr., The Nutcracker, or Sesame Street Live at the DeVos Performance Hall in Grand Rapids. Watch Rear Window, The Shop Around the Corner, or It’s A Wonderful Life at the Knickerbocker Theater in Holland.

Stay Fit During Your Holiday Getaway

While you’re in town, there’s no reason you can’t stay fit. Take a yoga class right across the street at welcoming local downtown Saugatuck studio, Satya. Head to Snap Fitness or Blue Star Community Gym. Get outdoors and walk Oval Beach, climb Mt. Baldhead or hike the trails at the Saugatuck Dunes State Park.   Experience some cross country skiing and snow shoeing through our towering dunes and stunning woods.
