Live Like A Local & Love Our Villages | Reconnect With Romance
We know life can be complicated. And busy. We understand that sometimes, even on vacation, it’s necessary to stay connected with the rest of the world. Wickwood Inn offers complimentary high speed internet in each room and throughout the property. It’s easy to stay connected while you’re here.
However, if you’re looking for a romantic getaway in Michigan, you’ve found the perfect place to unplug. Welcome to Wickwood, a bed & breakfast that helps you relax, refresh, revitalize, and reconnect.
1. Leisurely Lunch | Begin To Unwind
Known for their fresh omelets, fruit filled muffins and steaming pancakes, we think lunch at Ida Reds may be one of Saugatuck’s best kept secrets. If the breakfast menu sounds tempting, go for it. You can order anytime. But don’t ignore the selection of soups, salads, pastas and sandwiches. You won’t be disappointed. Check the specials listed on the chalkboards and come with cash. No credit cards here. The booths, or the seats at the counter, are our favorite spots to sit. If you’re more in the mood for the best scratch margarita in town, head directly to The Southerner. You’ll taste Chef Millar’s commitment to the freshest and best ingredients no matter what you order.
2. Stroll Down Butler Street | Shop Downtown Saugatuck
Our little downtown is packed with unique specialty stores, galleries, restaurants, coffee shops, bars and more. Pick out something sweet at Kilwins. Lose track of time as you browse through the art galleries. See the outdoor apparel, accessories and shoes at Landsharks. Wander through the unique gifts, accessories and fine art at Good Goods. Take a break and enjoy an espresso or fresh juice at Uncommon Coffee Roasters.
It Doesn’t Matter When . . .
3. We’re Happy To See You | Welcome To Wickwood
The world is full of choices. We’re happy you chose Wickwood. We know that excellent service is an art. It’s that expert balance between anticipating your needs, so that you are lavishly pampered, without us ever intruding. We’re here to help. No matter what. No matter when. Honestly though, we hope you hardly notice we’re here. Our small staff is dedicated to working hard behind the scenes so your stay with us is memorable.
Have a cup of tea, coffee, or glass of fresh juice. Nibble a little something sweet. Find a book in our library and cozy up to a roaring fire. Or, meander out into the garden and relax on the porch. Strike up a game of backgammon or simply settle into your room. The Champagne and Chocolates you ordered are ready for you.
4. Stroll To The Dining Room | Sips & Small Plates Await
Everything is ready for you. Have a taste of wine. Try the Roasted Butternut Squash or Ginger Carrot Soup. Taste your way through the meats, cheeses and olives. Share some Pepperade Flatbread, Jambon Crostini, and Maple Glazed Brussel Sprouts. Linger as long as you like.
5. Award Winning Dining | Dinner At Bowdies Chophouse
We agree with MLive Food Critic, George Aquino. Bowdies is THE Grand Rapids area restaurant you should visit in 2016. Better yet, it’s right in downtown Saugatuck! The inside is both cozy and lively. Weather permitting, the restaurant nearly doubles inside with its outdoor deck and porch. Start with the Pan Seared Scallops or the Shrimp Cocktail, but do not skip the Truffle Fries. The Cowboy Ribeye is a steak to remember and the Roasted Half Chicken pleases every time. Make sure you have a reservation, as this place fills up quickly. Didn’t plan ahead? No worries. Try one of our other fantastic Saugatuck restaurants: Phil’s, Grow, Pumpernickel’s, Hercules, or The Southerner … just to name a few.
6. Keep The Magic Going | Our Nightlife Beckons
Take in a concert, catch a show, or dance the night away. The SCA, Saugatuck Brewing, Salt of the Earth, The What Not Inn, are some of the area’s hotspots. Or, stroll the beach and watch the most spectacular sunset. We have whatever you’re in the mood for. Enjoy a night out on the town.
7. Head Back To The Lakeshore | Wonder Awaits At Wickwood
We don’t care when you return, we’ll save a little something sweet to welcome you back. Help yourself to the always available Organic teas, Juices, and more. The Luxurious Linens, London Collection Spa Amenities and Kashmere Robes featured in every Guestroom or Suite make sure your every need is met with an extra measure of comfort.
8. Read The Newspaper | Sip Coffee | Meander Down To The Dining Room
You’re beginning to feel rather spoiled. Frankly, you’re enjoying it. Time truly is a gift. You continue to set the pace. Come to the table when you like for Wickwood’s signature amenity: Champagne Brunch.
9. Stroll Through Saugatuck |Enjoy Unique Galleries & Boutiques
Downtown Saugatuck does not have any typical chain stores. Be sure to visit Good Goods for items showcasing the finest hand-made in America. Landsharks carries great shoes and apparel for active people. Olive Mill, Spice Merchants and American Spoon offer specialty food items and lots of samples. Chantal’s collection of boutiques feature great labels for both men and women’s apparel. The assortment of vintage and retro collectables at Swell Times may make you giggle. Try Amaru Leather for a beautifully handcrafted leather accessory. VolMod for a custom pottery plate or vase. Don’t miss James Brandess Studios & Gallery. You may find the perfect painting to always remind you of this vacation.
Walk along the docks. Stop at a picnic table. Hop on a swing. Search for the next piece of sculpture.
If by now you’ve worked up a bit of an appetite, try Lucy’s Little Kitchen for their handcrafted cocktails, local beers, wines, and ciders. Everything’s made from scratch at this fresh and lively eatery. Saugatuck Drug Store still stands proudly on the corner, and yes . . . they do serve a REAL chocolate soda at the counter in the back. Order one with two straws. It’s sure to make you smile. If an ice cream cone is what you’re after, you won’t have to walk far. There are many options. Our favorite? Charlie’s Round The Corner.
10. Fitness For Two | No Matter What Form It Takes, This Will Be Fun
No matter what you’re in the mood for, we have fitness made fun. Satya Yoga, Blue Star Community Gym, Snap Fitness, Just Add Water, Clearbrook, The Ravines, and more are super close by. Let us take care of the details. Simply decide if you want to tandem bike or kayak. Have a private yoga session or a golf lesson. Run or hike through the dunes and along the beach. The options are endless. Time to get your endorphins going.
11. Customized Massages | You’ve Earned It
Enjoy quality time being pampered, by the gentle and experienced hands of our massage therapists. Rich aromas envelope you while body oils moisturize and firm. Cacao butter softens your skin. Relax and be rejuvenated.
12. Private Wine Tasting | These 2 Hours Are Just For You
Petter Wine Gallery (PWG) exploded onto the scene in Fall 2013. Everything we’ve tasted so far in this Retail Shop and Tasting Bar has been exquisite. For the next two hours, you have their undivided attention and expertise. Chose from an all red or all white tasting. Or, pick your favorite varietal. Let the experts at PWG be your guide through boutique vineyards near and far.

Either way, you’ll enjoy the sparkling Lake Michigan waters and feel the balmy breeze.
15. A Cozy Table For Two | Enjoy The Energy At EPC
Everyday People Cafe (EPC) has been a longstanding favorite for locals and visitors, and we understand why. Share a Spanish Tapas Plate. Try the Nuts & Berries Salad, Gigi’s Greek, the Ahi Tuna or Penne Pesto. Or, explore your options and stroll across the street to Wild Dog Grille. The tables in back offer a quieter setting.
16. Live Music At the Local Brew Pub | Better Wear Your Dancing Shoes
It’s a short drive to The Lucky Stone Pub at the Saugatuck Brewing Company. Don’t get too cozy in your booth or on your bar stools, because Blue Molly & Madcat Manfra Blues Band is sure to bring you to your feet. Forget time and dance the night away.
