Best selling cookbook author, Julee Rosso of The Silver Palate Cookbook and her husband Bill Miller, have created the exquisite Wickwood Inn, in the village of Saugatuck, on the shores of Lake Michigan. Everyday guests are pampered with lavish Candlelight Evening Hors d'oeuvres, a lush Champagne Brunch and snacks and "surprises" galore. Everyone at Wickwood is quite mad for good food and guests are encouraged to bring their appetites with them. Most recently, Wickwood Inn achieved an "extraordinary to perfection" average rating, thus, was ranked with the "Top Fifty Small Resorts, Inns and Spas in the U.S." Zagat's Review reconfirms numerous others about Wickwood; that it is among the very best getaways in the world.
Zagat reviewers described Wickwood as having "décor that is perfect," where "around every corner is something more breathtaking than the last." Individually themed guest rooms open the world to Wickwood's guests. The distinctive flair in décor and the treasure trove of antiques, drawings and paintings and the engaging bronze sculptures positioned all around the Inn, enhance the atmosphere year-round.
"Don't miss the homemade breakfast," advised Zagat, reviewing this "treat" of an Inn. A day may begin with Truffled Roasted Asparagus Frittata, Apple Bread Pudding with Vanilla Sauce, Country Ham, Very Berry Bismarks or Strawberry Shortcake. Every evening lush Hors d'oeuvres are served at Six that highlight savories with bold seasonal flavors from around the world including Artensial Cheeses and Sausages, Soup Shots, Cheese Pinwheels, Carmelized Onion Tarts, Bruchetta or Shrimp and Crab Atop Crostini.
Taste surprises continue to appear from dawn until well past dusk. Wickwood has been lauded by "Midwest Living" readers as their "favorite" and "most romantic" Inn--a visit is said to be "like going home, only to one of your imagination."
